Little boy of four can stay on the island

Venezuelan boyWILLEMSTAD - The boy of four who was going to be deported, still gets a residence permit. The mother heard this on Friday last week. The government was going to deport the Venezuelan boy while his Venezuelan mother is legally in Curaçao and married to a Dutch citizen.

The immigration service would have rejected the request for a residence permit for the boy because he was already in Curacao during the processing of the application.

Fundashon Orguyo Kòrsou (Foko) stepped in to and approached the media last week after the women, in panic, had appealed to them. They asked the Minister of Justice to grant the permit anyway so that the boy did not have to be separated from his mother. That now seems to have been successful: the boy can stay.
