Member of Dutch Parliament wants subsidy Jellinek back

Dutch ParliamentTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – The Second Chamber in the Dutch Parliament wants to recover the subsidy granted to Jellinek Retreat in Curacao. It is about 600,000 euro in subsidy. Labor MP Lea Bouwmeester followed the whole project critically and insists in recovering the subsidy, though she realizes that you cannot pluck feathers from a bald chicken.

Bouwmeester thinks that worse than the possible loss of all the money is the fact that the people did not have the opportunity to participate in this project.

The clinic had been operating since the beginning in April 2010 with psychiatrists and psychologists who do not have the required permits. Under pressure from the Health Inspection, the retreat closed its doors on January 1 this year. Reopening seems unlikely. Due to the current financial crisis, there is little enthusiasm among potential clients to pay for addiction treatment which is over 1,000 guilders per day.
