MFK wants to work with MAN and PAR in a new government
WILLEMSTAD – The Movementu Futuro Korsou (MFK) of the former Prime Minister of Curaçao indicated in its answers to the ‘informateur’ Kenneth Gijsberta its preference for a coalition consisting of MFK, PAR, and MAN. These parties obtained 12 of the 21 seats in the last elections of October 5. The new parliament will be installed on November 2.
In their letter, MFK points out that there must be an end to the political division on the island. This division originated from a referendum held on the island to choose whether or not the package offered by the Netherlands to become autonomous will be accepted. There was a fierce battle between the YES and NO camp. The YES camp, comprising of PAR and PNP was in favor of the package while NO, consisting of MKF, MAN and Pueblo Soberano (PS). The division between the two camps exists to this day in some degree, according to the MFK.
The conviction of the MFK leader Gerrit Schotte was reason for various parties to decide not to work with the party. But since the elections, both Schotte and also number two candidate Jacintha Constancia decided to step back to give the MFK the opportunity to form a coalition with MAN and PAR.
