Ministers calls on RdK Supervisory Board President Oswald Van der Dijs

WILLEMSTAD - Oswald of der Dijs, chairman of the Board of Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) (Curacao Refinery), is called by the demissionary Interim Government today to give an explanation on the current state of issues related to public company RdK. During a radio interview at Radio Direct,Prime Minister Stanley Betrian said that his primary concern is what has been done in the past two years within RdK. “We will apply the principle of ‘adversarial’. We will give Mr. Van der Dijs the opportunity to give us a full account of the past two years in RdK,” the Prime Minister stated.

Van der Dijs is invited to give his report in the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers on the current state of affairs and how did it come to that point. It is obvious that relations between the Supervisory Board of RdK and the demissionary Interim Government have not been smooth. Recently the Prime Minister said that it seems that instead of supervising RdK, the Supervisory Board is making decisions.

This follows the announcement of RdK’s plans of which the Isla (PdVSA) itself is not yet aware. The relationships between the RdK, the Isla, PdVSA and the Curaçao government are closely intertwined. In 2019 the contract with the tenant Venezuelan PdVSA will expire. And still there is no decision on what to do with the refinery. Betrian will not exclude a meeting with the other members of the Supervisory Board e.g. Sidney Justiana and Henk Deira. “But first we will hear the President of the Board.”
