Ministry of Economic Development hunts for boss behind illegal lottery sales at mini markets
WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Economic Development is hunting for the big boss behind the illegal sales of the lottery tickets by Chinese owners of mini markets.
During audit inspections, the Ministry finds lottery tickets which are being sold in these shops without the proper permit. This is according to Ronnie Cornelis of the inspection team of the Ministry of Economic Development. Last Tuesday the Ministry seized a large number of lottery tickets at Aloe Minimarket in Sint Joris. The inspectors seized 2100 lottery books and 800 Daily Lotteries and Smart Play from Sint Maarten.
The lottery tickets were hidden in the house at the shop, including in a washing machine. The Chinese minimarket owner had no license for the sales of these tickets and the store was closed immediately.
