Netherlands does not interfere with abuses in SDKK
THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The Netherlands will not interfere in the prison, the Sentro pa Detenshon i Korekshon Korsou (SDKK) on Curaçao. This is according to the Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk in a letter to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament.
The Dutch Parliament had raised questions about the maltreatment of two detainees in prison a few months ago.
Plasterk did indicate that he recognizes that the entire Kingdom could be addressed by this as an issue with human rights, but he argues that the prevention of abuses in the SDKK is an internal matter of the island.
