New Civil Aviation Director for Curacao

DerbyWILLEMSTAD – Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Mr. Earl Balborda wants the people of Curacao to meet the new Director for the Department of Civil Aviation (CCAA), Mr. Oscar Derby MBA. As it is widely known that since Minister Balborda took over the responsibility of the Curacao Civil Aviation, his goal was to do whatever it takes to get the civil aviation back to category one. The Minister has been working fervently looking for possibilities both locally and internationally to equip the Department of aviation with professional and capable people in the field.

He’s a retired Lieutenant Colonel and has assumed the position of Director of the Department of Curacao Civil Aviation. Mr. Derby has worked as a pilot at the Jamaican Defense Force for 27 years. He has an MBA degree from the prestigious MONA Institute of Business. In 2000 he retired from military service after serving as a Commanding Officer in the Jamaican air force. The experiences he acquired during his years of service includes the flight operation inspector of the Airbus 320 aircraft.

Minister Balborda is extremely satisfied with this achievement, to find a professional as Mr. Derby to come and work for us in Curacao. The Government has demonstrated that they are working hard to comply with the FAA’s requirements to put Curacao back in category 1 as soon as possible.
