New tax agreement disadvantageous for new pensioners

WillemstadWILLEMSTAD - The new tax agreement between Curacao and the Netherlands is detrimental to new Dutch pensioners who lives or wants to live in Curaçao. That is according to Professor Peter Kevelaars of the Erasmus University.

On January 1, the agreement, allowing new Dutch pensioners to pay a lot more compared to what they are paying now. Right now they are paying about 10 percent, but this will change to 25 percent. The ones who already live in Curacao can be relieved. They will continue to pay according to the old agreement of 10 percent.
