Nine illegal Venezuelans arrested
WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean Coastguard has intercepted nine illegal immigrants. These illegal Venezuelans were all trying to get on the island. The arrests took place on the night of Monday, October 3rd.
At 1.30 pm, the radar operator of the Coast Guard detected a boat in the Jan Thiel area. A Super-RHIB was deployed right away. The police were informed and sent a patrol to the area. When they arrived at the spot, the crew of the Super-RHIB found an abandoned vessel on. The helicopter and patrol aircraft were deployed to search the area.
During the search, the police found and arrested six of the illegal immigrants. Authorities continued their search and arrested three more. The Venezuelans were transferred to the police station and together with the Coast Guard they will continue investigation this case.
