No school buses driving today

Darius PlantijnWILLEMSTAD - Today, school transport in Curaçao is on strike. This was announced by the chairman of the education union Sitek, Darius 'Lio' Plantijn last night. According to Plantijn, there is no school bus this morning to bring the students to school.

He asked all drivers and representatives of transport companies to come to the headquarters of Sitek from 6 o'clock in the morning. According to the drivers, transport companies that bring the children to school are waiting for months for payment from the government.

The government would also not comply with the rules regarding school transport. Among other things, the drivers do not agree with the recent decision of the Minister of Education to give schoolchildren aged 17 and older a pass with which they can go to school with the ABC Bus companies.
