WILLEMSTAD - Refineria di Kòrsou (Oil Refinery) has financed an independent investigation into the oil leak at Jan Kok. That was announced by Minister Jacinta Scoop-Constancia (MFK) of Health, Environment and Nature yesterday during a press conference. The Minister also said that attorney Eric de Vries of HBN Law is exploring the possibilities, through a court trial, to hold those responsible for the oil spill liable for the damage.

Refineria Isla had initially stated that the oil spill had arisen as a result of a human error. Spokesman Kenneth Gijsbertha of Refineria Isla stated in the media that the oil came from the refinery. the refinery later came back to this and suggested the possibility of a leak that came from a ship.
