Oil refinery: sulfur recovery system refinery is operating normally
WILLEMSTAD - The sulfur recovery plants (SRU) at the oil refinery Isla are operating normally. There is one SRU unit in revision right now. The other two are in operation. This is according to the spokesman of the refinery, Kenneth Gijsbertha.
Earlier this week, Peter van Leeuwen of Clean Environment Curaçao said that the unit may be broken because of the flaring that is going on right now.
Van Leeuwen said it also reflects in the measurements. A working sulfur recovery system prevents that too much sulfur dioxide is in the air.
