Papagayo Beach Hotel – first hotel to widely use solar panels

Papagayo Beach Hotel 2WILLEMSTAD - The management of Papagayo prides itself to be called the first hotel in Curacao that will soon make widely use of renewable solar energy. It emphasizes once again the innovative advancements of the Papagayo Beach Hotel and how the hotel is a leading example of sustainability in the tourist sector of the island.

This month Dutch Durables will begin by placing a total of 1,200 solar panels on the main building of the Papagayo Beach Hotel and the seven blocks. Completion of this prestigious project is scheduled for July. A total area of 2,100 square meters of solar panels will annually account for half a million kWh. Performance can be monitored live via a display in the lobby of the hotel.

Since January 2012, it is possible to supply the island with the energy of renewablePapagayo Beach Hotel 1 power and since then the number of individuals and companies that use renewable solar energy increased significantly. This is a positive development for the environment of the island and its image. The management of Papagayo stressed the importance of sustainability.
