Politur stops tour bus with cruise tourists

PoliturWILLEMSTAD - The tourism police (Politur) yesterday stopped a touring car that illegally toured tourists. All tourists had to disembark and could only continue after the company had sent a bus with the right permits to continue the tour.

Permits are linked to a car with a TW number plate. According to taxi drivers, illegal tourist transport from the mega-paper is very common. The taxi drivers have been begging the government to do something about this. They hope that yesterday’s action will be continued.

The interim director of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) Hugo Clarinda, indicated during a radio interview that he does not approve the way the Politur handled the case. “Everybody knows that there is illegality taking place in the tour business. Authorities know this and they should act preventively and not when the busses are full of visitors to our island. They become victims of something they don’t know anything about, said Clarinda.

According to Clarinda, authorities should act to prevent this type of illegality before they reach the costumers.
