President Supervisory Board Aqualectra dismissed

WILLEMSTAD – President of the Supervisory Board of Aqualectra, Oswald van der Dijs will probably be removed from his post on Thursday December 27, 2012. Next week there will be two shareholders' meetings at the utility company, according to interim Minister Dr. Jose Jardim during the press conference of the Ministers.

“The first meeting is about the dismissal of Van der Dijs. We have asked him to respond to the points we have raised, and unless there are changes, Van der Dijs will be removed from his post on Thursday,” according to Jardim. Van der Dijs abandoned the hall at an earlier general shareholder’s meeting, that’s when the Government decided to continue the process of dismissal. Another reason for the dismissal is the report of the Government Accountant’s Bureau (SOAB) showing that the transfer of CRU, the former BOO central plant did not go in accordance with the legal framework. This was not in the interest of Aqualectra.

The Minister reiterated that the dismissal of the members and the president of the Supervisory Board are not because of rumors but investigations done by SOAB.
