Problems at CRU: several areas without power
WILLEMSTAD - Different neighborhoods on the island were without power last night and the night before. The reason for the power outage was because the gas turbine at the CRU plant was not able to supply enough electricity. This is according to the utility company Aqualectra on their social media.
The problem started at around 20:30 and different neighborhoods lost their electricity. Technicians at CRU immediately went to work, according to the utility company. But they were not able to remedy the problem so they had to switch over to the usual system of the switch on and off.
What the exact problem was with the gas turbine is not clear.
After about two hours Aqualectra reported to have corrected the problem and all neighborhoods were reconnected.
