Protected coral on spot where second mega pier is planned to be built
WILLEMSTAD – It seems like the construction of the second mega pier in downtown Willemstad will suffer a significant delay. Protected corals have been found exactly where this second pier will be built.
This is according to the Minister of Economic Development, Eugene Rhuggenaath. The Minister indicated that they are now considering placing these protected corals somewhere else or also an underwater park could be formed where these species are protected. The preference goes to the latter.
Next week, the Ministry will meet with experts to see how a park like this will be, how much is the cost and how long will it take to built.
The Minister said that all this needs to take place as soon as possible to continue with the construction of the second mega pier.
