RBC hands out back packs to karate schools in Curaçao
Volunteer associations of RBC connect to donate
WILLEMSTAD – Employee’s collaborative efforts create positive impact within our communities and benefit the lives of our people in many ways and one of the Employee Resource Groups (ERG) at RBC, the Caribbean Women ERG recently embarked on a major Caribbean wide initiative to provide back packs to children in selected schools and organizations across the region. The children were elated to receive the new back packs and there were smiles all around.
In Curaçao, our ERG team teamed up with the RBC/BYK (Ban Yuda Komunidat) volunteer association to provide back packs for a remarkable group of disciplined youngsters active in the Karate sport. Selected students of three schools out of the six Karate schools on the island received RBC back packs. Athletes’ ages range from 5 to approximately 17 years. “Rewarding these amazing athletes who practice three to four times a week with a back pack, fills us with much joy to see how something small can make a big smile happen” says Lillian van der Burg – Goeloe, the Curaçao based Caribbean Women ERG representative.
“RBC is well-known for its involvement in many community causes. No matter how big or small, getting involved, helping a cause and contributing to our community, eventually creates big impact”, says Pierrot Hurtado from RBC.
