RdK’s Board refuses to be present at Meeting of Shareholders

WILLEMSTAD – The Supervisory Board of Refineria di Korsou (Curacao Refinery) (RdK) refuses to heed the call to be present at the General Meeting of Shareholders. The agenda point during that meeting was the dismissal of the Supervisory Board.

Members of the Board say that it was already established that they will be dismissed so they don’t see it necessary to appear at the said meeting. This they stated in an official letter to the Minister of Finance Dr. Jose Jardim.

The President of the Boar, Mr. Oswald van der Dijs, said that the Board will answer any questions in writing. The President also stated that they have defended themselves, in writing, against the reasons for the dismissal. The Interim Government, the sole shareholder of the Refinery, has lost its confidence in the Board, which was appointed by the Government headed by former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte.

The current Interim Government proposed an interim director, Herbert Mensche, who was subsequently suspended by the Board but reinstated by the Government.
