Reopening children’s petting zoo
WILLEMSTAD - The renewed petting zoo in Curaçao was reopened yesterday during animal day. The zoo is engaged in a major reconstruction and after two years of work by many volunteers, the visitors were able to enjoy the new accommodation yesterday.
The zoo’s theme is Around the World. There are animals that can be found in various countries. The zoo is divided into eight different areas. The animals can stroked, cuddled and at regular times of the day, they can be fed.
The completion of the children’s zoo is due to the foundation Friends of the Curaçao Zoo. This foundation, led by Janis Vinck, was able to bring together 250 friends of the zoo. All of them donating a monthly minimum of five guilders. This is how several projects were funded at the zoo.
The petting zoo is open every day. Feeding the animals is only possible between 10:00 and 11:00 and 16:00 and 17:00. The food for the animals is available at the zoo for five guilders.
