Rising interest in studying in region
WILLEMSTAD - 380 students signed up to study in the Netherlands for the school year 2016-2017 and 308 to study at a school in the region. This is according to a report from Curaçao Education Fund Foundation (SSC).
Although there are more applications for the Netherlands, there is still interest to study in the region.
Compared to last year the number of applications for the region increased by 27 percent. Last year there were 242 applications. Future students from this group will continue their studies in the United States, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Trinidad and other countries in the region. Most young people combine their studies with the practice of a sport or art.
467 students wanted to continue their studies in the Netherlands last year. So this number has decreased for the school year 2016-2017 with 87 to represent a decrease of 19 percent. This is apparent from the preliminary figures of the foundation. The exact figures will be announced later this month.
