Scarlet Curaçao headed for bankruptcy

scarletWILLEMSTAD - Scarlet Curacao is heading for bankruptcy, according to reports. It’s around 3,000 mainly business customers have already been experiencing poor internet services for several months, its customer service is unavailable, and staff have not been paid in several months.

In July, a filing for protection from creditors was made after various suppliers ended business with the company. Scarlet director Paul Gelderloos said at the end of July that the services were restored, and the creditor protection was meant to give the company time to set up a more healthy structure. However, the company's administrator is less optimistic and is considering filing for bankruptcy.

Gelderloos started Scarlet in 1992. Its Belgian operations were later sold to Proximus, and the Dutch activities were bought by the local management.
