Sehos staff back to work

HospitalWILLEMSTAD - The court determined yesterday that the action of the employees of the Sint Elisabeth hospital (Sehos) is unlawful. Some of the staff of the Sehos laid down their work after it was revealed that an employee was transferred to another department without cause. The group laid down their work and walked yesterday morning from the hospital towards Pietermaai to their legal counsel for assistance, and afterwards they went to the court.

Because it is a labor dispute the court considered that a civil action is the usual way. A strike can only be held if there is no other solution, and should be announced in advance. The staff had to resume work around 14:00.

“The staff is back to work, but with mixed feelings,” said the deputy chairman of the union representing the employees, Johnsel Djaoen. “This is what the court decided and we must follow this decision. We are now working with the lawyer to start a civil proceeding. The staff is informed via flyers, so they are reassured and know that we are not going to take it anymore.”
