Small boat with 22 Venezuelans intercepted by the coast guard
WILLEMSTAD – This morning at about half past four a go-fast boat with 22 Venezuelans was intercepted by the coast guard. This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the coast guard Roderick Gouverneur.
The boat was discovered at about 3.5 miles from the St. Anna Bay by the coast guard radar. A Superrhib and the Coast Guard Clipper were immediately dispatched to intercept the boat.
The Venezuelans were arrested and the boat was taken to the coast guard jetty in Parera. All those aboard were transferred to the police. There were 19 men and 3 women.
According to the authorities, the captain of the small boat could be charged with human trafficking. Aboard the boat authorities also found marijuana.
