Staff and management SDKK talk about insecurity
WILLEMSTAD – The staff and the management of the Curaçao Correctional Facility (SDKK) will meet this coming Wednesday to talk about the safety of the prison guards. This is according to the SDKK Director Urny Floran.
According to the guards they don’t feel safe at work. They expressed this last week Friday and demanded a meeting with the prison management. They went back to work today, but, according to them, there is still the feeling of insecurity.
The management and the staff will talk this Wednesday about how that feeling can be eliminated. Especially what measures should be taking when dealing with prisoners. The guards ceased their work after some prisoners were pushed over the railing in Block 4.
The prison guards want the management to authorize regular inspections for illegal items in the cells. The guards also demand for more support and also for more staff to be recruited.
