Start construction mega mall at Jan Noorduynweg
WILLEMSTAD – A large shopping center will be constructed on site at the Jan Noorduynweg between the building where Burger King was located and Caribbean Motors.
Last week Thursday, the Minister of Infrastructure, Earl Balborda gave the starting signal for the construction. The companies investing in the project are Kooyman, La Curacao and Prestige Ford.
The funding is shared with the government, which takes the construction of the infrastructure for its account. The construction of the shopping center is paid for by the investors.
It is about 4.5 hectares of government land with 2 acres destined for the buildings and 2.5 hectares for the construction of the infrastructure, including parking for over 600 cars.
The plans for this project began in 2007. The goal is to make the area attractive for both business owners and customers. One of the components is the construction of a boulevard that connects the stores together. There will also be restaurants and entertainment in this mega project.
