Successful 13th Annual Women Conference in Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - Young women being held by older women, sharing of knowledge and wisdom, encouragement and empowerment. That was what participants of the 13th Annual Women Conference in Curaçao 'About Women and Spirituality' left with. The conference started last Saturday morning with an official opening word
by Minister of Infrastructure of Curaçao Mr. Suzanne Camelia-Römer who spoke about the power of having a conference like this consistently taking place. She then lit the conference light together with 5 year old Victoria.
First speaker of the conference was Sister Devki Ramsahai who lives in St. Maarten and works with Brahma Kumaris, an institution run mostly by women. Sister Devki was very clear about the importance of knowing the higher power in your life. ‘Nothing will however happen if you just sit. The higher power is in you to get up and do whatever you need to get done’. Dr. Richenel “Muz” Ansano, cultural anthropologist from Curaçao gave an extensive view of the documented development of spirituality in the Caribbean community and in Curaçao. His view is that whatever it is called, we finally meet with the same needs of beliefs. Consultant and women groups’ leader in the United States Judith Noel said that women wherever they are, are changing the world but this has to be with responsibility since it will have consequences.
The conference continued on Sunday with a group circle session based on ancient female tradition and customs. This part was very intensive and resulted in powerful interactions. The conference was also filled with other topics relevant to women in general like a talk by beautician Chantal Vogelland from the Netherlands, yoga tips for when stressed by Vali from Curaçao and information on how to boost your career with Feng Shui.
All involved are looking back at a conference that without doubt masters the first 12 annual women conference in Curaçao.
The next Annual Women Conference in Curaçao will be on May 27, 2017 in Curaçao.
