Surgeon Berry: “Suspension by communication incident, not by death patient”
WILLEMSTAD - Medical specialist Michel Berry says that it is not true what some media reported about him. Recently it was reported that the surgeon was suspended because of the death of a patient at the St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The surgeon said this in a written statement recently. “As a general surgeon, I have nothing to do with the death of a patient that was treated at the St. Elizabeth Hospital,” said Dr Berry in his press release.
Disciplinary actions were taken against Berry, but, according to the surgeon, these were because of one incident in the communications sphere, which, and he emphatically says this, did not result in the injury or death of the patient or any other patient at the hospital.
The relatives of the deceased patient are filing a complaint against the hospital. The already filed a complaint against Dr Berry at the St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The hospital tried to arrange a meeting between the family and the doctor, but the family did not want to meet with Dr Berry. They rejected this request because according to them, the hospital did not take any immediate action against the doctor. Only the Health Inspectorate took actions.
