The 3rd CIBC Firstcaribbean walk for the cure ready to hit the streets of Willemstad

First Caribbean BankWILLEMSTAD - The 3rd CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure will hit the streets of Willemstad upcoming Saturday October 18th.

This year the walk will be bigger than all the previous editions as interest for the walk has been increasing and corporate sponsors have partnered with CIBC FirstCaribbean to make this walk even bigger. Proceeds generated through this walk will be donated to the Princess Wilhelminafonds so they can continue with their valuable work in the fight against the disease of cancer in Curaçao.  The walk will start in the parking lot of CIBC FirstCaribbean De Ruyterkade # 61 in Punda at 5.30 PM and will finish at same spot.

During the last couple of weeks, events to raise funds for the care and support of persons fighting cancer were held all across the Caribbean in all the 17 countries where CIBC FirstCaribbean has offices, as part of the 3rd FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure.   The bank is taking part in this along with its parent company, CIBC, which is in its 18th year of supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Run for the Cure. Last year, they raised over $20M for breast cancer research.  CIBC FirstCaribbean this year has significantly increased its regional fundraising efforts and is on rack to raise a record amount.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure in Curaçao, as with the rest of the Caribbean region, will also be bigger than ever.  Not only has the interest of the public to participate in the walk increased but other corporate sponsors have joined the effort to make it an even bigger event.  While Deloitte has joined CIBC FirstCaribbean in the region as a sponsors other sponsors that have already come on board the 3rd CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure in Curaçao are Curoil, LBH, NuCapital, Adama, Empire Promotions, One Media Group, Goisco, Sourcy, Wechi and Dolfijn FM, San Perregrino and Stradius.

The distance of the walk is 6 km.  This year there will be a special kids’ corner for the children to enjoy while the parents take part in the  walk.  Kids up to 11 years pay Nafl.7.50 and all 12 year and older pay Nafl. 15,- to participate to the walk.   Tickets can be purchased at the office of CIBC FirstCaribbean.

The staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean has been hard at work for several weeks organizing fund-raisers at our branches around the country. A special thanks goes to all who have supported the fundraisers and given generously of their time and money, to help us raise as much as can for this worthy cause.
