The Rotaracters of Curaçao

curacao-willemstadIt is with much excitement that we announce the recent re-launch of The Rotaract Club of Curaçao! Rotaract is, in short, a Rotary-sponsored service club for young professionals between the ages of 18-30. We pride ourselves, however, on the fact that it has become much more than that since its creation; namely, a movement!

Internationally, Rotaract was officially inaugurated during January 1968 under RI President Luther Hodges and has since grown to represent 8,400 clubs spanning 156 countries.

Locally, Rotaract was founded by some of the brightest individuals roaming the island today, some of whom have since gone on to become Rotarians.

Rotaract is effectively a platform through which to improve your social and professional networks while doing something good for society. What’s more, is that you get to impact society by tackling a problem through creative and alternative projects that challenge you and help you to develop your personal and professional skills.

In 1987, the Rotaract Clubs of Heemstede and Hillegom-Lisse in The Nethelands managed to raise USD 210,000 towards the PolioPlus campaign by having 36 Rotaracters cycle an amphibious vehicle across the English Channel, which earned them a space in the Guiness Book of World Records. It is with this great spirit that individuals seek to become Rotaracters.

We are currently recruiting and would gladly receive any inquiries. All we look for in an individual is that s/he be motivated! If it’s the first time you’ve heard of us, spread the word! We want to get to know you and your friends! As our incoming president, Kunal Mirchandani, puts it, “ This is not Fight Club! The first rule of Rotaract is that you should talk about Rotaract!”
