Update: Treatment Bientu case in March
WILLEMSTAD - The Common Court of Justice decided today that the trial of the so-called Bientu case will be held in the week of March 7 next year.
The court accepted the defense’s request during the proceedings to hear five witnesses. The verdict in this case against lottery boss Robbie Dos Santos and three of his firms is scheduled for April 1st.
The charges include money laundering and forgery.
The prosecution announced the accusations against Dos Santos last week, including the falsification of lottery tickets, the intentional money laundering and foreign bank deposits to evade taxes over the years 2004 to 2008.
Apparently the lottery boss has also falsified statements with respect to income from domestic and foreign assets. Dos Santos is also accused of illegal weapons possession.
The various offenses, a total of sixteen, were committed, according to the OM, between 2004 and 2011.
