UTS Curacao introduces download speeds of 50Mbps

UTSWILLEMSTAD - United Telecommunications Services (UTS), a full-service telco established on Curacao in March 1999 through the merger of Antelecom and Setel, has announced the availability of a new range of high-speed broadband tariffs, with download speeds now peaking at 50Mbps. A 50Mbps package is priced at ANG170 (USD93.4) per month on a non-contract basis, although the cost drops to ANG149 per month as part of an annual subscription. Previously, in January this year local rival Flow, which is owned by regional powerhouse Columbus Communications, doubled its own download speeds following customer feedback. As such the cableco’s 50Mbps speeds were increased to 100Mbps, and priced at ANG299.99. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, other internet service providers (ISPs) operational in Curacao include fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) operator TRES and WiMAX firm Scarlet.

Outside of the broadband sector, Willemstad-based UTS counts mobile subsidiaries in Bonaire (Chippie Bonaire), Sint Maarten (UTS Sint Maarten), Saint Martin & Saint Barthelemy (UTS Caraibe), St Eustatius (Chippie St Eustatius), Saba (Chippie Saba), St Kitts & Nevis (UTS Cariglobe) and Suriname (UNIQA).
