UTS staff meets during working hours

UTS_logoWILLEMSTAD – The union Sitkom has called all its members employed in the public company United Telecommunication Services (UTS) for a meeting this morning during working hours. According to earlier reports the CEO, Mr. Paul de Geus, announced that 200 people will be laid off to save the company from bankruptcy. The company has been camping with serious financial problems in recent years.

De Geus announced earlier that the company will give the employees the opportunity to resign voluntarily. The union says that it does not oppose a voluntary resignation, but indicates that the conditions are unclear to them. For this reason they advise their members not to resign. UTS says that these layoffs are unavoidable. If they do not go voluntarily, then the company will have to dismiss these 200 employees.

The employees will gather at Fort Amsterdam to demand clarity from Minister Earl Balborda.
