VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne Keeps in Touch With Law Students

WILLEMSTAD – At the end of November, Curaçao-based legal firm VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne organized the second edition of the Networking Lunch for students in theNetherlands.

Twenty-two young ambitious law students who attended the lunch inAmsterdam, showed much interest in a future job in the Dutch Caribbean.

The law students, all in the 3rd or 4th year of their studies, to a large extent have their roots in the Dutch Caribbean. The meeting provided an opportunity to interactively learn about the law and enjoy a Caribbean lunch.

Robert Beemen, responsible for the Dutch Caribbean Desk of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne in Amsterdam, opened the lunch with a speech about his experience as a young lawyer on the islands. After his talk, students were given the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with partners Frank Kunneman, Esther Jansen and Mayesi Hammoud.

Graduate Jennifer Josefa, LLM, describes the lunch as "a good initiative for the highly educated people who would like to work as lawyers, who are ready for a challenge and who would like to contribute to the islands within the Kingdom. Through VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne you get to know the people, the culture and practice up close, giving you a much better picture of the legal practice in the islands."

The students were extremely enthusiastic about the main program of the meeting. Frank Kunneman, managing partner at VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne gave a description of the political and economic environment in theCaribbean part of the Kingdom. He also went into detail on the challenges facing the firm. The students were clearly well prepared and asked relevant questions about the profession in the tropics and about their future prospects.

VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne organizes the annual event in the Netherlands to get acquainted with law students from the islands. The firm wants to inform the students about their possible future as a lawyer in the tropics and encourage them to think about this seriously. This year’s edition of the meeting was again very successful.
