Venezuelans in Coro protesting against the embargo imposed on the ABC islands

Coro_protestCORO, WILLEMSTAD - The embargo unilaterally imposed by the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro against Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao has become a boomerang for his own people.

The Venezuelans in Coro who have family and commercial ties with the islands are now protesting against the measures imposed by Maduro. The protestors are demanding a swift solution from the competent authorities.

“We want to work,” is what the protestors shouted in the streets of Coro. They were waving flags of the three islands during their manifestation. According to Venezuelan media, this measure is affecting about 7000 workers who were directly benefiting from the commercial activities with the Dutch Caribbean islands. Currently, they are at home doing nothing. They can’t even get products which are in abundance on the islands but scarce in Venezuela due to the current crisis.

Several experts indicated since the beginning when Maduro announced the measures that not only the ABC islands will suffer but also Venezuela. This is now clearly visible.
