Visa requirement Colombians remains in force

Colombian passportWILLEMSTAD - Individuals with Colombian nationality must continue applying for a visa to travel to Curacao. This is according to the Ministry of General Affairs after it was announced that visa requirement would lifted by April 1, 2014. This has caused some confusion. However, the government has recently invited the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs to approve the exemption of visa requirement for Colombians.

The Foreign Relations Department in Curacao is in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) to give content to the visa policy. “The fact that at the same time there are discussions within the European Union taking place at the initiative of Spain to lift the Colombian visa requirement to visit the Schengen countries could be the reason for the confusion with respect to the exemption of  visa requirement for a Colombian person to visit Curaçao,” said the ministry.

Colombians who hold an American, Canadian passport or Schengen visa are already exempt from the visa requirement of Curacao.
