VPCO may not charge school fees
WILLEMSTAD - The Association for Protestant Christian Education, the VPCO, is breaking the law. This is according to a court ruling recently. VPCO may not charge parents of its students any school fees.
The fact that the VPCO wants to charge school fees is contrary to the recently introduced free education. The VPCO asks 550 guilders in school fees per student. Depending on the number of children the fees can go to a maximum of 1475 guilders.
According to the judge since the free education law was introduced there is no reason why the schools should ask the parents to pay. Starting the next school year, 2016-2017, VPCO may not charge the parents of their students the school fee.
