Waiting time at Hato addressed in report

Curacao AirportWILLEMSTAD - With short-term practical solutions, but also with changes that could consume time, the problem of long waiting times at airport Hato must be resolved.

This has recently been discussed in a report commissioned by Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH) and prepared by consultant bureau KPMG.

The reality is that at peak times at the airport with several arriving flights, there are large waiting times and the lines are too long for the tourists and passengers. That gives a false impression of the island.

The report, which includes the proposed solutions was recently offered to the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro.

“Improvement of service means not only a fast and friendly handling, but also safety and protection are essential when talking about the arrival at Hato,” Navarro indicated.

CAH, which wants to see the problems solved, requested KPMG to interview the various stakeholders such as the immigration service, the police, the admission organization and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice. All parties agreed that change must come soon for tourists and passengers arriving around peak times.

KPMG also conducted a so-called benchmark for Curaçao and compared it with several other islands in the Caribbean and Europe.

This study has shown that passengers must be received as warm as possible and that the best technological resources should be out there, such electric gates at the immigration reducing the delays.
