“We will not ask the Netherlands for help with the refinery”
WILLEMSTAD - As long as Pueblo Soberano (PS) is in power, Curacao will not ask the Netherlands for help to solve the environmental pollution. This is according to the Member of Parliament for the ruling party, Sherwin Leonora during the weekly Saturday meeting at the PS party building.
He thus responds to the motions in the Dutch Parliament, which the Dutch MPs in The Hague calls the Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk to help Curaçao. The local MP refers to the environmental organizations, Smoc and Clean Air Everywhere as Dutch activist groups.
Leonora says that Curaçao is aware of the pollution, but that the Netherlands has nothing to say about the island. “The motions in the Dutch House of Representatives, are just their way to make us think that we cannot solve our own problems,” says Leonora.
