Willemstad adorns new postage stamp in Netherlands

PostNLWILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Postal Service is issuing a series of stamps this month, which also features the capital of Curaçao, Willemstad.

It’s the historic center of Willemstad’s turn to be honored this way. The city was placed on the World Heritage List in 1997 by the UNESCO. The stamp is part of a UNESCO series.

Worldwide, there are 1,000 heritage sites. In the Caribbean, there are 6 other heritage sites. Other places in the Unesco stamp series are the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht, the Stelling van Amsterdam, the Kinderdijk windmills and the Wadden Sea.
