With an empty smartphone you will no longer enter the United States

ASmartphonelMSTERDAM, WILLEMSTAD - Schiphol has announced a separate measure recently. The staff at the airport will ensure that all equipments that are in the handbag can actually be used. This measure applies only to flights to the United States.

Every day there are 30 direct flights to the United States from Schiphol, Amsterdam and the passengers on those flights should take into account an additional check of their luggage. This inspection covers the equipments that are in the luggage. These must be recharged.

The airport staff will check whether these devices can be turned on. Passengers will also have to take them out of their protective cases. If your smartphone or tablet does not turn on then you won’t be able to take it on the plane.

Authorities fear that terrorists can use electronic equipment to smuggle a bomb on board. In addition, the shoes of the passengers will be subject to an additional check so passengers must make sure they have clean socks when traveling to the United States. The request to check electronic equipment comes from the United States. There, passengers will be asked for some domestic flights to activate their devices.

This measure applies to all electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets, MP3 players, e-readers and the like.
