World-Class Athlete at Endless Summer Sports Festival!
WILLEMSTAD - Every year the Endless Summer Sports Festival is organized by the Oldschool Windsurfers St. Jorisbaai and is a fundraising event to support the Foundation St. Jorisbaai. This year the event takes place on August 7, 8 and 9. The foundation is there for local children who can exchange good school results for free windsurfing lessons.
Chairman of the Fundashon, Ed de Groot, proudly announces that the freestyle windsurfer, Kiri Thode, is participating in the event. ‘Kiri Thode is from Bonaire, the place where windsurfing talent is born. Since 2007, Kiri is in the top 3 of the world, so we are very proud that he is participating in our event’.
The event originated from the idea that the St. Jorisbaai is the home for people that are active in the great nature of Curacao. The disciplines; windsurfing, kite surfing, mountain biking, walking, running, fishing and beach tennis are all sports that can be practiced in the surroundings of the St. Jorisbaai. People from different cultures and sporting backgrounds come together to enjoy their joint passion for nature and watersports.
For the first time this year there will also be a freestyle windsurfing category and a big-air contest (which kite surfer can jump highest). These matches will take place all three days from 2 PM and will ensure a fantastic show for the audience. The participation by Kiri Thode in this category sharpens up the contestants to try to win from him. “I like coming to the ESSF because it is fun at the Oldschool Windsurfers and I can always freestyle really well at the St. Jorisbaai.” Says Kiri.
Besides the sport activities, the audience was thought of too. The Windsurfing Village will be transformed into an event center, which provides shadow, a snack truck, Polar Bar, a donut stand and fantastic (live) music. So keep your agenda open on August 7, 8 and 9 for this fantastic festival!
