A bari drum for the White House
WILLEMSTAD - Today, Tatiana Saturnino-Felix (owner of Tera Percussions) presented a bari drum painted with the likeness of the Obama family to Acting Consul General (CG) Hormazd Kanga. Acting Consul General Kanga will send the drum to U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on behalf of Curaçao.
Musicians from the island joined Acting CG Kanga and the staff of the U.S. Consulate General Curaçao for a performance and presentation at the historic Roosevelt House.
At the presentation, Acting CG Kanga said: “It is often said that music is the universal language. This drum represents many things. It depicts the creative talents of an inspiring artist. It represents the rich culture and musical traditions of Curaçao. And of course, it represents the centuries-old friendship between the people of the United States and Curaçao, in which we can all take pride, as the bari drum represents.”
Ms. Saturino-Feliz also presented Acting CG Kanga with a bari drum that will be on permanent display at the Roosevelt House.
