Airport’s expansion project progressing steadily

P1090175WILLEMSTAD - Good news for the aircraft aficionados. Soon the airport will have, once again, the outlook post right on top of the new section.

The airport’s expansion project is progressing steadily and according to the project manager, Brian Elshot, they are working hard to finish by the end of 2018. By that time the airport will be able to process 2.3 million passengers on an annual basis.

According to the Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), every year, the airport gets five percent more passengers and with more than one and a half million passengers now, it’s at its limits.

The total investment in the terminal expansion project is 35 million dollars. 25 million comes directly from CAP and 10 million from a trust fund set up by Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH). There is also an additional investment by CAH of 4 million dollars.

Today, the members of the press had an opportunity to take a look at the progress of the expansion.
