America remembers 9/11

rememberingWILLEMSTAD - Americans today commemorated the attacks of September 11, 2001. In New York, a memorial service was held at the National September 11 Museum. The names of the dead were read, while at the exact time of the attacks silence was exercised.

A sign that the dark page in American history, perhaps has been turned is the completion of the new World Trade Center at Ground Zero - sticking out high above the surrounding skyscrapers - the place where the Twin Towers stood. Next year, the offices will be put into use.

In Washington political leaders and President Barack Obama held short speeches at the memorial for the victims of the attack on the Pentagon. "Thirteen years after evil minds had conspired to break us, America is full of courage and pride," Obama said.
