Breaking News: Hyatt Hotel terminates its operations in Curacao
WILLEMSTAD – Employees at the Hyatt Resort in Santa Barbara Plantation Curacao have received the news that the hotel chain has terminating all relations with Curacao and that the franchise will leave the island in January 2013.
This is because the hotel business is not as lucrative as expected. Owners of the hotel chain will deliver a letter to the Government of Curacao stating their decision. According to the owners, they will do their utmost to find an operator. If this fails then the employees will all lose their jobs in the beginning of 2013.
Unofficial reports state that Hyatt has not paid its lease for some time now and for the last six months has operated almost empty. It appears that the owners of the hotel complex have locked the offices of the hotel and are not allowing the Hyatt managers to enter the premises.
