CAP: “Our number one priority is safety and security at the airport”
WILLEMSTAD – This morning during an interesting presentation, the management of Curaçao Airport Partners gave information about the current situation and the future of the airport. One aspect of the presentation was the extra security measures taken, especially after the terror attacks in Brussels yesterday.
“Within two to three months there will be 45 additional cameras operational at the airport,” said Tobias Markert, Chief Operations Officer of the airport. According to Markert the airport already meets international safety requirements, but CAP will further improve this. The plan was already launched last year.
“These attacks affect us all. This is why we want the community to know that safety for us is a number one priortiy, and we will promote this permanently,” said Markert during his presentation.
Markert also indicated that CAP will strengthen the Airport Police team with two additional officers per shift. He did not want to comment on other security and safety measures, but assured that this is the airport's number one priority.
