Chikungunya, has the attention of CHATA

“Toolkit” has been sent to our members…

Chikungunya virusWILLEMSTAD - CHATA has taken notice of several requests by its members in regards to the Chikungunya situation on the island. “We have been monitoring the situation since September 2014 says the President & CEO Lizanne Dindial. We have organized an information session for our members early October 2014 and have always kept an eye on what the market, and local industry is experiencing.”

CHATA’s information session focused on the tools and methods to use to limit the mosquitos causing the spread of the virus in the areas of the properties.

CHATA has also taken notice of the different requests for information from different partners and guests visiting the island of Curacao. CTB
& CHATA have developed a statement to aid in the response to any guests' concerns about the occurrence of Chikungunya on Curacao.
It is important to mention that a majority of the CHATA member hotels and resorts have taken private initiatives at their property, which includes spraying of the grounds, inclusion of traps and more.

We are happy that our hotels & resorts are doing their utmost to secure their premises. As CHATA, we always focus on the well being of our island visitors and do applaud all private and public initiatives being taken at the moment.

CHATA also calls out on the government of Curacao to continue to implement their strategies to mitigate this situation. For both our local population and guests, this is of concern. CHATA will continue to monitor this situation.
