Curaçao Airport Partners Kicks-Off Investement Of NAfl. 17,000.000 In Upgrades

CAPWILLEMSTAD  -- Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), fresh off their 10th anniversary celebration last week, is sharing its views and plans for the future.

A heavy investment is being made on some major projects that needed attention such as the runway of which the first phase will be completed this year and the remainder of the runway and taxi way will be completed over a three (3) year period. Also being planned is the air-conditioning of the check –in and security waiting area will offer passengers a more comfortable experience upon departure.

In addition, a much needed 2nd baggage x-ray machine is needed in order to alleviate the pressure of the current machine and anticipating passenger growth in the future. CAP is very aware of the appearance of the restrooms which even though are maintained very clean do not appear so, will start renovations with the completion of one such set and the remainder in 2014.

In order to diversify and capture the General Aviation market, a full-fledged state of the art FBO facility will be built giving Curacao a competitive edge in the market. To enhance the passenger experience, an Airport Plaza (Curacao Airport Plaza) will be realized in front of the terminal building and offer additional food and beverage and retail options.

Plans are also currently being developed for a terminal expansion that will improve the functionality and efficiency of the current terminal building and also provide additional terminal and office space to in order to relieve current congestion and to  meet anticipated  air traffic demands  of up to of 2.5 million passengers on a yearly basis.
