Curaçao grants approval for US airlines to operate 7th freedom charter flights

Curacao airportWILLEMSTAD – The Director of the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) to confirm that Curaçao will consider applications by US carriers for the approval to operate charter flights to and from the island in accordance with the provisions of the Air Transport Agreement between the United States of America and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in respect of Curacao, relating to Air Transport between Curaçao and the United States of America of 2016.

Curaçao will in addition grant approval for designated US carriers to operate 7th freedom charter flights on the understanding that the United States would grant similar rights to designated Curaçao carriers in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned Air Transport Agreement for the period from December 22, 2016, until July 21, 2017.

7th freedom is the right to fly between two foreign countries while not offering flights to one's own country.
